Italian Sausage with Apples and Onions PDF Print E-mail

1-1/2 lb Italian Sausage links
3/4 cup water
2 tablespoons butter
2 medium onions, sliced
2 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1/4 cup apple juice or cider

 

Cook sausages with water in a skillet over medium heat until water evaporates.   Continue cooking sausages, turning occasionally until lightly browned.   Remove sausages from pan and keep warm.
In same pan add butter and sliced onions.   Cook over medium heat until onions start to soften - about 5 minutes.   Add apples and juice to pan.  Continue cooking until juice has reduced to a thick glaze and apples are softened - about 10 minutes.
Transfer onion and apple mixture to a serving plate and top with sausages.
Serves 4.

That looks great! Don't you love how simple gluten-free can be when we stop
trying to imitate gluten? There's still tons of variety without it :)

I really like this with hot sausage - the contrast of the hot sausage and
sweetness of the apples is really good!
